How we make money

Using The Residence Index costs a buyer nothing. We don't charge for access to the data, comparisons, calculators, or for making an enquiry or getting a consultation.

We earn referral commissions from developers: when an enquiry comes through us and leads to a sale, the developer pays us a fee. The buyer pays no more for this — the commission comes out of the developer's own sales budget.

Our scores, rankings, ordering and copy are produced by a single methodology and are not for sale. A developer cannot pay for a higher score, for hiding trade-offs, or for a place in a shortlist. We show pros and cons the same way for partners and non-partners alike.

We also do not publish fake reviews or unverified reliability claims.

If a project has a paid or partner placement, we mark it clearly, so you can always tell editorial content from commercial content.

An "independent index" has to be honest about how it works. So we explain the model openly — so you can trust the data while knowing exactly how we earn.
